Athletics Chilwell has a proud history in Athletics since it was formed in 1966 by a local school teacher. Little Athletics was first at Landy field in 1966 followed by the Senior Athletics in 1967. We are a strong family club led by our President of many years in Mary McDonald and have produced many Australian representatives including recent athletes such as Lee Troop- Olympic marathon, Richard Colman - Paralympic and Commonwealth wheelchair races, Jemima Moore - Paralympic wheelchair relay, Luke Bissett - Commonwealth javelin, Kelly Cartwright - IPC World Championships- 100m & Long Jump.

'Local athlete selected for 2012 Australian Track & Field Team for World Champs in Spain'
http://www.geelongadvertiser.com.au/images/uploadedfiles/editorial/pictures/2012/04/02/TESCONS_RIGHT_IMAGE_IA059460_152011.JPGChilwell athlete Tessa Consedine has been selected to represent Australia in the Women’s 400m Hurdles at the World Junior Track & Field Championships in Barcelona, Spain in July.
At sixteen years of age, Tessa is thrilled to be participating in her first international competition. Although she would normally have tapered off from training after a busy summer at home, Tessa is working hard with her coach of five years, Al McLean to prepare her for peak fitness in time for the European summer competition.
Apart from training intensively, Tessa has a full workload as a Year 11 student at Sacred Heart College. Tessa joined Little Athletics as a five year old and has always thrived on the competition and camaraderie between her fellow club members and rival clubs. She has particularly enjoyed the friends she has made at Chilwell Club.

The discipline and work habits Tessa has learned during her journey as an athlete have been invaluable in assisting her to manage the competing priorities of being an elite athlete as well as a Year 11 student. Just as important is the support Tessa has received from her family, friends, athletics club and school. Let’s not forget Al, her wonderful coach!

In order to travel to Spain with The Australian Team, athletes are required to pay a levy of $3,500 to Athletics Australia to contribute towards the costs associated with an international competition eg: airfares, accommodation, food, uniform, entry fees etc.

Thanks to the generous support of her family, friends, school and athletics communities, and her sponsors Athletics Chilwell, McDonald & Co First National Real Estate and Sacred Heart College, Tessa is well on her way to meeting her levy payment. Special thanks also go to the following Geelong businesses who have supported Tessa`s fundraising efforts : De Grandi Cycle & Sport, Geelong`s Gym, Labten, Rebel Sport & Total Care Podiatry.
